Watershed Poetry Mendocino is an annual celebration held in Ukiah and
other Mendocino County communities utilizing multiple venues, poetry,
art and environmental discussion to help raise awareness of the importance
of watersheds and the environment. Begun in 2008, Watershed Poetry
Mendocino was inspired by and modeled after the Watershed Environmental
Poetry Festival held annually in Berkeley, CA. Watershed Poetry Mendocino
is sponsored by the Cloud Forest Institute.

Watershed Poetry Mendocino is now an annual event that promotes bioregionalism–an approach toward ecological sustainability based upon creating sustainable ways for humans to interact with the unique natural features of their place–climate, land forms, watersheds, soil, native plants, animals, and people. Everyone is part of a watershed and bioregion, and the Watershed Poetry Mendocino celebration will help to raise awareness of Mendocino’s unique ecology, spectacular natural beauty, and life-places.
